Hi, I’m back! That, my twelfth trip to the Texas antique fair, was the best one by far for buying. Yes, things were more expensive, there’s no getting around that. The internet, tv shows and social media has told us that our junk is worth more. Junk that I can do cool things with has always been pretty cheap, and everyone needs to make a living so I understand. I absolutely LOVE being able to see the best of what these dealers have collected in one place. That made for 12 hour days, every day. We seriously shopped until everyone went home, in the rain, the very cold, the incredibly windy, the hot, the humid, the awesome thunder and lightening, and for one sweet day – the clear pure perfect temp. Even when we were picking up our goods on the last day, I shopped. I could not NOT buy the things I found at Marburger Farms that day. We shopped so hard I only got to my favorite haunt, Zapp Hall, one evening to see my friends. In the evenings we were just tuckered, and excited to tally our days purchases over champagne in our lovely airstream in our favorite field. This field (what you call one of the 60ish seperately owned and operated – by operating I mean having spots for vendors to sell) has it’s own special charm, the owner is a great caterer, and throws all scraps every morning to the vultures who are waiting. Seriously, how cool is that? The roosters can wait.
The photos from the trip, and what I have put together since I returned, are here, and here.
