An oldie but goodie interview

Hi,

I was selling my wares on a fancy website for a while, this is the interview for it. I am much better thinking and writing out my own answers than being interviewed in person.

Your connection with vintage?

If you look at almost any tool or machinery from the late 19th century and earlier, you’ll see a work of art. The same applies to a Georgian chest of drawers or a work bench that a farmer put together for his own use. They are made to last, thoughtfully and for a purpose. The only new I truly love is handmade by an artisan, I am SO excited that people are beginning again to make things that will last many lifetimes.

Weaknesses?

Vintage white linens, very well loved dolls, French oak, English pine and American walnut, the beauty of nature. Also, I can’t sleep without hand creme, lip balm, earplugs, an eye mask, and a few chapters of a great novel behind me.

Your shopping mecca

The antique fair in east Texas. It’s almost always unbearably hot, whether spring or fall, I walk the fields from morning till evening every day. On warm balmy nights, a live band and good friends in the beer garden welcome me. The sellers come from everywhere, they have wonderful stories, and their wares are as diverse as they are. The trek home in a big ass Penske truck with all of my goodies is fun too.

Favorite things to buy for the shop?

Original paint, patina, rust, well worn wood. If it has good juju, is beautiful to me and has been lovingly made and loved then I want it.

Music?

Classic country and the Bakersfield sound! I gotta have a twang.

Advice to someone wanting to follow their dream?

Follow it! We only live once (in this body), if you want to do/be/have something find a way to make it happen. Surrounding yourself with others who are living their dream is a great start. Good luck!
