Over the past eight years Saffron and Genevieve has evolved into exactly what I always wanted it to be. I just got back from the gift fair in New York where I had a fantastic time exploring the city. There were miles of offerings to wade through, but I have gotten good at spotting special and ignoring mass produced. I found exactly what I needed, whether or not I was looking for it. I feel great about everything I am bringing in, it reinforces my tagline :
Timeless – I only have things that will last, heirlooms, well made, meant to be used and enjoyed and passed down, nothing trendy.
Found – vintage and antique objects, special, real, with soul.
Organic – means to me any object straight from nature (I love to decorate with nature), as well as special pieces from reclaimed, recycled goods, local art and jewelry made with hands and love.
Here’s what I got:
Alice Goldsmith 1880 Image above
“the 1880 collection was inspired by the remembrance of a simpler, slower time, when hand made things were the rule, rather than the exception. Dish washer and microwave safe, all are meant to be used, and passed down from generation to generation with recipes and warm memories”
Is it any wonder I picked up this line? It sounds like I wrote that!
Made in USA. Special bonus that I love – just for fun every piece has a different old stamp or makers mark on the bottom, they are made in a very old factory, I hope to visit it soon!
there was so so much jewelry to look at. This line was the only one I saw that felt perfect. They will be in the shop soon and Lauren and Gracia are in the sf bay area, so they will be doing a trunk show in October!
I recently stopped carrying childrens gifts, but I could not pass these up, especially when my shopping partner told me she still has her childhood stuffed animal, and remembers fondly the cherry pit bag you warm in the oven and place inside the pouch. They are made of organic cotton, German wool, and cherry pits.
I have been looking for the perfect throw for years, and here they are. Linen and cotton throws, woven on antique shuttle looms in Maine, and made to last.
Austin Press candles
I am happy with the candles I carry, but could not pass this line up. I love Kim Austin, everything she believes in and her aesthetic.
Pure beeswax & olive oil hand poured in small batches.
Scented with 100% essential oils from plants & flowers.
Cotton wicks, letterpressed & gold foil labels.
100% recycled glass, hand blown vessels.
Lovingly made in the forest by Orthodox Monks.
May your quest for the perfect candle be over.
